Pragmatic Utilitarianism is an enemy of the cross

Pragmatic Utilitarianism defined: Utilitarianism says, "do that which provides the greatest good for the greatest number." Pragmatism says, "Whatever works is what is good." According to Alex Strekal: "The arguments given by people to justify unethical acts are usually utilitarian, which is to say that a given act is defended on the grounds that it is beneficial to someone. ...Just because something may be beneficial to some people does not necessarily mean that it is justified... Furthermore, and this is very important to stress, happiness is not the criteria by which we measure right and wrong. The happiness of a murderer may come from murdering, but surely we do not condone murder simply because it brings happiness to the murderer." You may read the entire article here This is usually explained as: The ends justifies the means... But does it really? Here is a good example, The Praise band of New Spring church sings AC/DC’s ‘classic’ song, ‘Highway to He

Would you stay at this church?

Would you stay in a church that preached the following? 12/2005 In a sermon, Pastor xxx declares that the miracle of the 2 fish and 5 loaves was not that the same fish and loaves fed thousands, unless as he puts it, it was two whales, and loaves made from an entire field of wheat. He states that the miracle was that by having the people sit in groups, Jesus created community, and the communities shared what they had. THAT he says, was the miracle. I do not agree. 6/24/07 Pastor xxx 's, sermon implies the approval/acceptance/condoning of homosexuality. Not only the person, but the lifestyle, and uses Acts 11 to couch the debate over homosexuality as equal to the circumcision debate xxx says that the early church members would be surprised at the church’s ‘gentile’ predominance, implying that in years to come homosexuality will be so much a part of the normal life of the church that we who are in opposition now will be surprised. Sermon is preached on the same day as the gay parade (

Leaving all for the sake of Christ

I am the first" - Rifqa Bary "If you have this Jesus in your heart, you're dead to me. I will kill you." - Rifqa's dad Do you have the courage of Rifqa? When the time comes when your life may be required of you, what will you say? What will you do? Here is video of Rifqa's parents' cleric (who is currently banned from the US): God Bless you and keep you Rifqa. We are praying...

My Worldview... Just so you know.

So, in a nutshell.... I am a Christian theist , a Soft restrictivist: This means that I believe in a God, YWHW , and that I follow the traditional Christian belief system. I believe that Yahshuah was and is the Christ , and that no one can gain either access to God, or eternal life without Him. Period. I believe that no one can be saved outside of the message of the Gospel being received (Romans 10) . Infants and the mentally unable are excluded from the principle because of their inherent inability to understand and receive the Gospel. (I believe that Nehemiah 8 supports this view) . I believe that it is only by grace, and through faith that one receives the gift of salvation. Not the other way around. I believe in the purposed narrowing of our lives, which happens through spiritual, through external, and through deliberate internal means to conform to a Biblical standard of behavior, belief and associated action. I believe in the house, or simple church. I believe that we should se

The Power of Music

So this gave me chills. In 1995, I had the honor of teaching/directing the CLC singers as we prepared to sing on Alvin Slaughter's 'God Can' CD . It was a wonderful experience. Tonight, I watched a clip of an Italian choir sing one of the songs off of that CD, and I know by the arrangement, that they heard the version from the CD that we are on. It is a blessing, because in my travels, most of what I see embraced of African American music and culture is negative. I have been thrown gang signs on the streets of Moscow, watched awful Russian 'gangsta rap' videos, and in Germany stared with disgust at P-Diddy and others leering at me from subway posters... Yet here is an all white choir, praising God using an historically 'African American' art form, while not speaking the language. Music is Powerful, and Praise can happen in any and every language. This is particularly meaningful for me, because one of my songs, 'Overwhelmed' has made its way to a thi
